Law Day Volunteers Needed

The AABA Law Day Committee is seeking volunteers to speak in Anne Arundel County public schools about this year's Law Day theme, Miranda: More than Words

The AABA once again will join the American Bar Association (ABA) and other bar associations nationwide in celebrating Law Day.  On Law Day, attorney volunteers across the country participate in outreach programs designed to educate and inspire the public about important areas of law that lift up the quality of life for all Americans.

Law Day is officially May 1. The AABA plans to hold its Law Day programs in local public schools during the first week of May (exact date to be determined). Last year, AABA volunteers visited classrooms and assemblies at several elementary, middle, and high schools throughout Anne Arundel County.

Our Law Day Committee is seeking volunteers to speak in schools about this year's Law Day theme, Miranda: More than Words. These presentations will encourage students to reflect on the protections afforded to all of us by the U.S. Constitution, how these rights are safeguarded by the courts, and why the preservation of these principles is essential to our liberty.

Members who are interested in giving a presentation at a school should contact Law Day Chair Stasia Prigge at saprig84@aacounty.org. The time commitment is minimal, because the ABA has already prepared a comprehensive presenter packet containing lesson plans and other teaching resources.  To learn more about the theme and Law Day, take a look at the ABA Law Day website.
