president's message

John Gardner

I am supremely honored and humbled to have been elected the 80th President of the Anne Arundel Bar Association. I look forward to sesrving as the shepherd for the AABA in this first year of the new decade.

For me, the sense of honor and opportunity was never greater than at the Annual Meeting on June 21, 2010 when we recognized and honored all of the AABA Past Presidents for their leadership and dedication. It is their work in providing terrific service to our members which has fostered the growth to 1,100 members today. It is their foundation, laid of unique and constant social events, which has preserved and enhanced the level of collegiality that we all cherish and savor amidst our hectic and sometimes adversarial lives. It is their foresight in the expansion of our professional-related programs which is now the foundation for our members. These are giant footsteps into which I and my successors step.

Upon that foundation and tradition, we begin this new term of this new decade with new programs and the continuation and extension of existing initiatives. We will also participate in new state-wide programs and issues, which will have an impact on all lawyers in Maryland.
As the new chief “social hound” for this year, I also anticipate with zest a year of fun events. In my view, AABA social events create an opportunity for members to relax, reflect, laugh and simply enjoy the pleasure of the company of fellow attorneys.

Thank you.

John Gardner
2010-2011 President
